Char-Grill Bar Char-Grilled Chicken

Yet another rapidly expanding Western food chain that infiltrates coffee shops in Singapore, Char-Grill Bar certainly gives Astons and Botak Jones a run for their money.

I ordered the recommended char-grilled chicken which costs only $5.90 inclusive of 2 free side dishes. I decided to have California raisin rice and baked potato with my chicken. The service was fast for a weekend lunch and I received my order within 15 minutes.

Topped with a thin layer of savory mushroom sauce, the specialty char-grilled chicken is fleshy and delectable, though the charred aroma could be more distinctive. The California raisin rice is sweet and tasty while the baked potato is fragrant and flavorful.

Besides grilled chicken, Char-Grill Bar also has an impressive variety of Western dishes eg steak, fish, burgers, salads, sausages etc at affordable prices.

7.5/10

I agree with justy. I would rate the food 6.0. I ordered during the evening around 8 and waited 35minutes for my black pepper steak to arrive. When it finally came, the side dishes were wrong and swapped with my other order. I strongly object CGB is giving botak jones and ashton a run for their money. Far from it.

I ordered the pepper chicken chop. When I was thinking which 2 sides dishes I should take, the serving staff was so impatience. When I reached home, I realized the pepper sauce they packed separately was spilled. The chicken meat and carrot were so hard, potato salad was tasteless! This is my 1st and also the last time with them!

You guys should try other outlets. The service at Bt Batok isn't as bad as you guys are shooting at CGB. Besides, I am VERY sure you guys have not taken into account the pricing. Aston's and Botak Jones are rather pricey.

I tried the Mexican Grilled Chicken with side dishes of Mexican Cheese Pasta [Cold] and Mashed Potato with Black Pepper Sauce [Hot]. The bill was of $6.90 only. The food was pretty good in presentation as well as in Taste. This is my second time in the Char-Grilled Bar [Jurong East] and definitely not my last.

Though I would be more happy if the guys who deliver the food to the table do not seem touching the food on the plate with bare hands while putting the plate down.

Just went to try out Chargrill @Ghim Moh as Aston was very packed.. there was just like 2 or 3 tables eating from there.. and it wasn't long before i found out why. I ordered a set of chargrilled chicken... with side of Onion Ring and Potato Salad... for 6.50 (on par with that of aston's)the chicken wasn't as big as those from aston or botak jones.. but still acceptable to me... but the sides where just absolutely terrible to the max... they gave me just 4!!! FOUR pathetic pieces of onion ring... and the potato salad was like cut up baked potato mixed with mayo... Come on you ppl down at chargrill... do yourself a favour and serve something better. YOU ARE RUINING YOUR OWN REPUTATION!!!

Went to bukit batok outlet, agreed with everyone that it was nowhere near the standard of Aston for the same price. Not only the crispy chicken I ordered was as though it was soaked in oil, the sides were worst. The potato salad had no flavor and lack color and the fries from the look of it, were definitely left over and fried for the second time. Really think the management should have some quality control check on their food. Or else more bad impressions will cause their business.

My chicken chop came with a pathetic serving of black pepper sauce. I kindly asked if I could have more and they wanted to charged $0.50 for it.

Same deal with my girlfriend's fish & chips. She wanted more tartar sauce and $0.50...

Had ordered char grill chicken with 2 sides, Informed the auntie manning the cashier that I would like to have my mashed potato warm/hot.... She confidently mentioned "of course it is hot one". Told her past experience was not so.
Had noticed she did not even mentioned to the kitchen about my request.
When food was served I asked her that why is it not even warm.... Then She claimed that it's always on the hot metal stove how can it not be warm, she also rejected my request if just warm it up in their normal toaster/oven!
I have enough of their unpleasant service.... CGB will definite not get any business from me!

i went to jalan membina outlet just now. i ordered a chicen chop rice. and i was shocked. the chicken chop that they gave me was so tiny that i finish it in three mouthful but they gave me a lot of fried rice which was salty. please dun go there to eat. i felt cheated.

The service attitude of the lady at the Marine Parade outlet sucks. The chef must be from a fried kway teow or carrot cake stall previously. His cooking is super oily. This is referring to the day time staff at this branch.
