Xi Xiang Feng Curry Yong Tau Foo

Having been out of action for two months, I am finally back to try the famous Xi Xiang Feng yong tau foo in Ang Mo Kio Ave 6 Food Centre which has a long queue when I was there at 515pm.

With a wide variety of steamed and deep fried dishes, vegetables and beancurd whose prices range from 30 cents to 1 dollar per piece, I chose 6 pieces of yong tau foo to go with noodle and laksa gravy which cost $4.20 in total.

I was most impressed with the special laksa gravy that is remarkably thick and flavorful yet not overly concentrated or spicy. In terms of the yong tau foo, I like the steamed homemade meat ball best. The sweet sauce is fragrant and savory and goes well with the yong tau foo.

Although it is slightly more expensive than some neighborhood yong tau foo, I have to agree that Xi Xiang Feng is one of the most delicious in Singapore. If you haven't tried it before, come down to Ang Mo Kio central and decide for yourself.

People's Park Hakka Yong Tau Fu

Walking along the streets of Jalan Besar famous for its curry rice, I stumbled upon this stall with an impressive array of exotic Hakka yong tau fu on display. Equally exorbitant are its prices which range from 40 cents to $1 for each piece of yong tau fu and from $1 to $3.50 for a piece of cuttlefish.

I ordered a bowl of bee hoon with 5 pieces of yong tau fu, a piece of cuttlefish and laksa gravy which cost $6.50 in total. Concentrated with the sinful thickness of coconut milk, the laksa gravy is fragrant and flavorful. I was very impressed with the exquisite Hakka yong tau fu I ordered eg meat patty stuffed with Shiitake mushroom, traditional ngor hiang, minced meat and fish cakes with salted fish etc.

Although more pricey than other yong tau fu, People's Park Hakka yong tau fu is certainly worthwhile paying for its innovativeness. Come down to try it for yourself and be convinced.

Fu Lu Shou Curry Yong Tau Foo

I used to patronise Geylang East Food Centre for lunch when I was working around there two years ago but one stall that I never tried was the yong tao foo with the long queue. Perhaps I was not a fan of yong tao foo then but today I decided to try the curry yong tao foo to find out how good it is.

Reasonably priced at only $0.30 per piece, Fu Lu Shou Yong Tau Foo comes with an impressive variety of dishes ranging from fishball, meatball, fishcake, crab meat, wanton, ngor hiang, dried beancurd, cuttlefish, mushroom and vegetables etc. With the delightful sweetness of coconut milk and the subtle fragrance of lemon grass, the mouthwatering curry gravy is the best that I have tasted so far, just of the right thickness and spiciness and not oily at all.

Besides noodles, you can also choose to have Fu Lu Shou yong tau foo with the special yam rice. If you are a fan of curry yong tau foo like me, come down to Geylang East Food Centre and try it for yourself today.

Bras Basah Curry Yong Tau Foo

As a fan of the curry yong tau foo in SGH Kopitiam Food Court, I was disappointed when it was closed for renovation in September last year. Since then, I have been searching but have not found another curry yong tau foo that is as delicious.

Located in Causeway Point Food Court, Bras Basah Yong Tau Foo was recommended by some readers on the Makansutra forum for its impressive curry gravy. It is also Halal-certified, making it more appealing.

Reasonably priced at 50 cents per piece, Bras Basah Yong Tau Foo has a great variety of dishes ranging from sotong ball, fishball, fish cake, beancurd, vegetables to cuttlefish, egg, crab stick, mushroom etc. Concentrated with the sinful thickness of coconut milk, the authentic curry gravy is indeed fragrant and flavorful. The yong tau foo dishes are very fresh and tasty.

Bras Basah Yong Tau Foo is undoubtedly one of the best curry yong tau foo in Singapore. In terms of the superior quality of the dishes and curry gravy, the price is definitely worthwhile.
