Ma Bo Lor Mee

Located in Albert Centre Food Centre in Bugis, Ma Bo lor mee must be one of the cheapest and nicest lor mee in Singapore.

Priced at only $2.50, a bowl of lor mee comes with ngor hiang, fish cake, braised meat, braised egg and fried fish nugget. Delightly thick and savory, yet not overly starchy, the gravy coats the noodles very well. My only grouse is the strong flavour of spices in the gravy which can be overwhelming at times.

As evident by the long queue in front of the stall, Ma Bo lor mee is a must-try if you are a fan of lor mee. Besides the traditional lor mee, Ma Bo also has fried fish lor mee, chicken cutlet lor mee and laska.

Four Seas Seafood Hor Fun

Haven't been updating this blog for quite some time, I finally found something that is worthwhile recommending. Four Seas located at Albert Centre Food Centre has one of the best seafood hor fun in Singapore.

A plate of seafood hor fun which is very reasonably priced at $3.50, comes with prawns, sotong, lean meat, chicken, fish and egg. I seriously can't think of any other hor fun that is more value for money.

What I love most is the irresistable gravy that is incredibly flavorful and yet not oily and goes very well with the well-fried hor fun with the wok hei fragrance. The ingredients are extremely fresh and tasty.

If you are craving for delicious seafood hor fun, hesitate no longer. Come down to Albert Centre Food Centre in Bugis and try it for yourself today.

Yummy Rice Shop Economical Rice

Certainly one of the more popular economical rice stalls in Albert Centre Food Centre, it is not uncommon to see a queue forming in front of Yummy Rice Shop during dinner time.

While it has a variety of appealing rice sets eg Hainanese curry chicken set, Teochew braised pork set, good taste fish etc, I chose to order its ala carte dishes instead. A plate of rice with curry chicken drumstick, fried brocolli with cauliflower and fried omelette cost only $2.90.

I like the curry chicken drumstick that is fleshy and tender and goes very well with the savory curry gravy. Filled with a distinctive home-cooked flavour, the fried brocolli and cauliflower and the egg omelette certainly left a good impression.

If you are in favour of a simple economic rice that is value for money and satisfying for dinner, come down to Bugis and try Yummy Rice Shop economic rice today.

Xin Xiang Gang Claypot Chicken Rice

Definitely not my first time having claypot rice, I never seemed to learn my lesson as I scalded my finger against the scorching surface of the claypot again. This happened when I was feeling very hungry after waiting a long time for Xin Xiang Gang claypot rice. Fortunately it was worth every bit of the wait (and the pain).

A bowl of claypot chicken rice which costs only $3.50 comes with generous servings of chicken and Taiwanese sausage. The remarkable charred fragrance of the claypot rice goes very well with the lingering flavours of salted egg and dark soya sauce.

Besides having special claypot rice eg sea cucumber, seafood, pork rib etc, Xin Xiang Gang at Albert Centre Food Centre in Bugis also has a variety of Hong Kong congee, curry fish head and other cooked dishes that will certainly satisfy your taste buds. Come down and try it for yourself.
